Predictive maintenance for the heated hold-up tank

چکیده
We present a numerical method to compute an optimal maintenance date for the test case of the heated hold-up tank. The system consists of a tank containing a fluid whose level is controlled by three components: two inlet pumps and one outlet valve. A thermal power source heats up the fluid. The failure rates of the components depends on the temperature, the position of the three components monitors the liquid level in the tank and the liquid level determines the temperature. Therefore, this system can be modeled by a hybrid process where the discrete (components) and continuous (level, temperature) parts interact in a closed loop. We model the system by a piecewise deterministic Markov process, propose and implement a numerical method to compute the optimal maintenance date to repair the components before the total failure of the system. & 2013 Elsevier Ltd. Hybrid model predictive control of a nonlinear three-tank system based on the proposed compact form of piecewise affine model
In this paper, a predictive control based on the proposed hybrid model is designed to control the fluid height in a three-tank system with nonlinear dynamics whose operating mode depends on the instantaneous amount of system states. The use of nonlinear hybrid model in predictive control leads to a problem of mixed integer nonlinear programming (MINLP) which is very complex and time consuming t...
متن کاملIntegrated Preventive and Predictive Maintenance Markov Model for Circuit Breakers Equipped With Condition Monitoring
The Circuit Breaker (CB) is one of the most important equipment in power systems. CB must operate reliably to protect power systems as well as to perform tasks such as load disconnection, normal interruption, and fault current interruption. Therefore, the reliable operation of CB can affect the security and stability of power network. In this paper, effects of Condition Monitoring (CM) of CB on...
متن کاملDynamic Reliability by Using Simulink and Stateflow
The safety of high criticity industrial systems relies heavily on relatively complex programmed systems. Due to the complexity of the interactions between physical processes and their control, classical methodologies such as eventrees/fault-trees or Petri nets may not represent adequately the dynamic interactions existing between the physical processes (modeled by continuous variables) and the ...

During the training of submarine crews in submarine escape procedures, such as "free or buoyant ascent, "instructors at the escape training tank frequently hold their breath under water and perform "skin" dives to depths as great as 90 feet. The ascent is carried out by climbing up a'line. These diving maneuvers are similar to those practiced by sponge and pearl divers. The escape training tank...
